SSVP House
SSVP House was blessed by Rev Fr Eugene Vaz and inaugurated by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Desmond Lee, on 21 September 2019.
A bequest from the estate of an anonymous donor provided the funds for buying and refurbishing the building on 501 Geylang Road. The 4 Trustees for SSVP House Property are Rev Fr Eugene Vaz, Rev Fr Simon Tan, Mr Paul Foo and Ms Florence Tan. The office on 2nd floor is available for meetings and programmes. The ground floor of the building houses the SSVP Shop.
SSVP Logo
The logo has been adopted by the International Council or Council General of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, headquartered in Paris, for use in every country in the world. The logo has the following meaning:
- The fish is the symbol of Christianity and, in this case, represents the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul;
- The eye of the fish is the vigilant eye of God seeking to help the poor in our midst;
- The crossing at the tail or the tie-knot represents unity and oneness among members and also the union with the poor;
- The circle around the logo signifies the global or worldwide stature of the SSVP, an international Society;
- The phrase “serviens in spe” means “to serve in hope”, the hope that comes from Our Lord Jesus Christ.
