• Supplementary Needs Programme

Education is key to breaking the poverty cycle.

Supplementary Needs Action Programme (SNAP) supports the nutritional and hygiene needs of beneficiaries from age 3 upwards.

Our key objectives are:

  • To reduce the financial burden of low-income individuals and families who struggle to afford nutritional formula and personal hygiene products for those in need in Singapore aged 3 years and above.
  • To maintain or improve the health, well-being and quality of life of our Friends in Need
  • SNAP complements the Milk & Diapers Programme, which supports the nutritional and basic needs of infants at birth up to 3 years old from low-income families.

These are referred by our SSVP conference or Social Service Agencies.

Who We Help

Our core team will conduct an initial evaluation assessment for each application.

SNAP helps:

  • Low-income and vulnerable individuals and families facing stressful life challenges.
  • They must be aged 3 and above or adults and seniors with special needs.
  • Provide nutritional milk or formula products that are needed as part of a special diet or to help manage a medical condition. Hygiene products (diapers and underpads) needed for dignity and comfort is also provided.
  • Support the elderly struggling with ageing needs (eg, incontinence) and/or medical conditions requiring special formula to replace or supplement their diet for nutritional needs.
  • Existing Friends in Need as well as those in need referred to SNAP through the Social Service Office or Family Service Centre or established Social Service Agency.

Successful applicants will be onboarded as a Friend in Need by one of SSVP’s 29 conferences. Based on the assessment, they may also receive added essential and general aid, in addition to the befriending and support provided by Vincentians.

In 2025, SNAP provided support to about 200 Friends in Need.
