- About SSVP Shops
SSVP Shop for good, affordable and quality thrifting.
The Society started SSVP Shop, a social enterprise, in September 2019.
This establishment of this charity thrift shop was made possible when the Society received a significant bequest from the estate of an anonymous donor.
With this, the Society acquired a building at 501 Geylang Road, renovated it and set up SSVP Shop on the ground floor.
The shop and the building, named SSVP House, was blessed by Fr Eugene Vaz and inaugurated by Minister for Social and Family Development, Mr Desmond Lee, on 21 September, 2019.
As a charity thrift Shop, the items on sale at the shop are donated by the community including generous individuals as well as corporates.
Our day-to-day operations are managed by a pool of volunteers along with a staff supervisor.
The second outlet Vinnies by SSVP is a collaboration with Church of the Holy Family and opened its doors at 182 East Coast Road in June 2024.
The outlet is run entirely by volunteers, many of whom are from the youth ministry of Holy Family Church, Vincentians as well as from the community.
Committed to our socuial mission of supporting the poor as well as in environmental sustainability, we believe that every pre-loved item deserves a second life.
Whether through upcycling, repurposing, or simply passing it on, we strive to reduce waste and create something beautiful and meaningful.
Net proceeds from the thrift shops go towards the Society’s programmes and services for our Friends in Need.
