The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (National Council of Singapore) held our 68th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 26 May 2023 at Agape Village. At 6pm, Vincentians came together for Mass co-celebrated by SSVP National Spiritual Director Father Eugene Vaz, together with Father Jerome Leon, SJ.

Highlights of the AGM included addresses by Father Vaz as well as Ms Lucy Cher, her first since being elected during the last AGM. Ms Elizabeth Ng was elected as the Society’s new National Council Treasurer. A Vincentian since 2010, Ms Ng has served on the National Council previously as Assistant Treasurer from July 2012 to January 2015.

During the AGM, Ms Cher thanked Mr Martin Loh and Mr Gabriel Lok, who both stepped down as Treasurer and Assistance Treasurer respectively, for their amazing service, perseverance, and diligence. And of course, it was a fantastic opportunity for Vincentians from across Singapore to come together to share their experiences and more importantly, how we can do more to help our 3,200 Friends in Need.

We are also happy to announce that today (1 June 2023), Father Leon has been appointed as SSVP National Spiritual Director. Ms Cher, on behalf of SSVP, warmly welcomes Father Leon to the SSVP family as well as the Society’s heartfelt gratitude and acknowledgement to Father Vaz, who has led SSVP as National Spiritual Director since 2013 and will continue as our mentor.
