SSVP Conference of Divine Mercy Grocery Drive

As we celebrate Lunar New Year and visit our family and friends, when we greet each other with well-wishes, we will also invariably grumble and complain about the overabundance of food causing our expanding waistline!

Indeed, we are often stuck with our #firstworldproblems mindset, forgetting that there are the poor amongst us who worry about where the next meal will come from.

In 2022, SSVP Divine Mercy has launched “Project Grocery Drive”, an initiative to canvas the support of the community to care and donate basic necessities such as canned food, biscuits as well as toiletries for the residents staying at rental flats in Pasir Ris Drive 6.

“While we worry about what to eat or where to enjoy our next meal; or which latest gadget to get, there are many who worry if they can make ends meet or pay the bill that is due. I have often admired the people in the news, going the extra mile to do something good for those in need. This led to us doing something similar; by stretching their dollar or helping to put a meal on their table, especially during these difficult times. But I also know that it would be a challenge if we could not get like-minded people onboard. You and I can make a difference! So come and do your bit to help.” Thomas Ang, SSVP, Project Lead.
